The entire projects and activities organized by Yayasan in the welfare field are focusing on the attempt to enhance the welfare and life prosperities as well as to improve socio-cultural and socio-economic development among the people of Brunei Darussalam.
i. SUPPORT TO THE LESS FORTUNATE AND THE NEEDY
- EMERGENCY AND IMMEDIATE SUPPORT
- ENHANCING THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS OF THE LESS FORTUNATE SUPPORT
- SUPPORT TO THE DISABLE
- MEDICAL AND CARE SUPPORT
This support is given to ease the burden of the natural disasters´ victims such as floods, hurricanes, landslides and fire victims. The support is given in the form of cash contribution (donation), basic food and other appropriate necessities. Workers supports are also given through the Yayasan voluntary service.
Yayasan also contributes to humanitarian funds established by the government that are aimed at the disaster victims outside the country.
Various appropriate programme had been continuously implemented by Yayasan individually or through the cooperation of its strategic partners in order to assist in raising and expanding the income of the less fortunate and lower income groups so that they could be independent and exempted from poverty.
Amongst the organized projects is by getting the group involved in the state economic sectors through the small entrepreneurial and business programme.
In mutually enduring the responsibilities in handling the welfare of the disable in this country, Yayasan continuously give support and sponsors to associations and Non-governmental bodies that runs the development and enhancement programmes for the group.
This support is given to patients (Brunei citizens) who are not eligible under the Government support scheme.
ii. YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
Yayasan from time to time provides financial assistance and support as well as cooperating with other Non-governmental Body in handling the youth development project and programme in order to enhance the involvement and participation of youth in the community and country development.
iii. SOCIO-CULTURAL ACTIVITIES SUPPORT
To foster and nurture the spirit of excellence in socio-cultural field among the people, Yayasan continuously gives supports to relevant authority so as to develop the literature, writing, cultural and also sport fields.
Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Islamic Literature Awards, for example, is the Yayasan´s support to enrich and preserve the Islamic Literature heritage.
iv. HOUSING SUPPORT FOR THE NEEDY
Home is one of the important fundamental in the hierarchy of human necessity. Aware with this fact, Yayasan had planned two housing projects for the needy:
- Housing support project for the less fortunate (poor and disabled) and those with unsafe houses to live in. It is aimed to provide comfortable and hygienic homes so as to create a peaceful family life and a harmonious community. This housing support project is conducted under the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Housing Scheme.
- The construction of the well-arranged housing project in Kampong Ayer is known as the Kampong Bolkiah ´A´ and Kampong Bolkiah ´B´ Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Housing Scheme. The main purpose of constructing the houses is to provide accommodations for residents of the water village who were involved in the 1993 fire.
476 houses were constructed under this project and housing scheme, 226 houses for the first phase at Kampong Bolkiah ´A´ and 250 houses for the next phase at Kampong Bolkiah ´B´. Two types of houses were built which are type ´A´ (two bedrooms) and type ´B´ (four bedrooms). From this numbered, only 26 houses are of type ´A´.
Each participant that accommodates the Yayasan Housing Scheme are given a period of repayment for the houses they accommodated by monthly installments of 20 years.
