A series of earthquake occurrence which happened in Haiti and Chile early this year saw tremendous generosity response from the government and non-government agencies, private sectors and individuals as these philanthropists joined arm in contributing whatever amount they could afford with the hope of alleviating some of the burden suffered by the victims.
On Monday, 29 Rejab 1431 Hijrah corresponding to 12th July 2010, Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah placed a contribution of B$15,000.00 (Brunei Dollars: Fifteen Thousand Only) to the Haiti and Chile Earthquake Humanitarian Fund. Apart from that, Yayasan also handed-over contribution from the public amounting B$6,103.93 (Brunei Dollar: Six Thousand One Hundred and Three and Cents Ninety Three Only) through placement of donation box at the Yayasan Shopping Complex in Bandar Seri Begawan. Both donations were presented by Dato Paduka Haji Ali Hashim bin Haji Daud, Managing Director of Yayasan to Datin Hajah Adina binti Othman, Deputy Minister of Ministry Culture, Youth and Sport.
