The distributing of dates, a personal gift from His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam will be initiated with a 'Launch of Dates Distribution' ceremony where dates will be given to village heads for village distribution throughout the nation.
Meanwhile, for Royal Brunei Armed Forces personnel, at the launching ceremony, the dates will be distributed to commanders at RBAF and Unit Directors at Ministry of Defense who will then distribute these dates to officers and staff under their command. As for Royal Brunei Police Force, the dates will be distributed to commanding officers and formation directors who will then distribute the dates to officers and staff in their units.
On Thursday 27 Jamadilakhir 1431H corresponding to 10th June 2010, a meeting for the coordinating of the dates distribution took place at the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation Complex Multipurpose Hall in the capital chaired by Managing Director of the foundation, Dato Paduka Hj Ali Hashim Hj Daud, which saw the attendance of district officers/representatives from the four districts and government officers involved such as departments of Royal Customs and Excise, Ports, RBAF and RBPF as well as officers of YSHHB.
Among the agenda of yesterday's meeting were the discussion of the conducting and distributing system, appointment of secretariat and coordinating committee for Year 2010 which comprise of officers from government departments and YSHHB officers and discussing the format of the launch and appointment of coordinating committee for the distribution of dates and the launching ceremony.

The dates supplied through shipment packed in nine chilled containers measuring 40 feet each to ensure the freshness of these dates, is expected to arrive at the Muara Port in mid-July. This personal gift of dates from His Majesty is part of breaking-fast delicacies and the management of dates distribution is one of the special projects that Yayasan conducts annually.
