Being a channel of charitable endownment of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah and members of His Majesty’s royal family, the the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) is also a symbol of care and affection of His Majesty towards His Majesty’s subject apart from being a symbol of creation and unity of the society and the nation.
Main aim for the construction of the housing assistance to the the needy is to provide a house which is comfortable and clean thus creating a peaceful family environment and further develop a harmonious society in Brunei Darussalam.
On Wednesday, 05 Jamadilakhir 1431 Hijrah corresponding to 19th May 2010, a house handing ceremony for Awg Jumat bin Abai was held in Kg Senukoh, Temburong. Construction of the house was a jointly project between the Department of Community Development (JAPEM), Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and the Yayasan. Awg Jumat bin Abai, an unemployed and disabled has a wife and 7 children to look after.
Undertaking of jointly project together with strategic partners is part of the Yayasan initiative to develop a collective aspiration among government agencies and NGO’s thus mutually cultivate and improve the quality of life of the people in this country.
The construction of the bungalow house costing around B$40,000.00 have 3 bedrooms, living room, kitchen and washroom. B$30.000.00 of the cost figure has been financed by the Department of Community Development while the Yayasan absorbed B$10.000.00.
In this ceremony, Yang Behormat Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Ahmad bin Haji Jumat, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport handed over a replica key of the house while Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong, Minister of Communication in his capacity as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Yayasan presented a house completion certificate to Awg Jumat bin Abai.
Also in attandance was the Penghulu of Mukim Labu, Ketua Kampong Senukoh, senior government officers and officers from the Yayasan.
