Aidiladha and Qurban Ceremony 1430H/2009

On Monday, 12 Zulhijjah 1430H corresponding to 30 November 2009, the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Staff Welfare Body (BKPYSHHB) held an Aidiladha and Qurban Ceremony at the multi-purpose hall of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah School in Jalan Kebangsaan.

 

This is a yearly event organised by the BKPYSHHB through the Religious Section. Some 64 participants including officers, teachers and staffs of Yayasan and family members took part in the "Qurban/Aqiqah" rituals this year, in which 7 buffaloes, 1 cow and 10 goats were sacrificed.

 

During the event, 4 non-government organisations (NGOs) received a total of B$140,510.00 in financial sponsorships from Yayasan which were presented by Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Mejar Jeneral (B) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Awang Mohammad bin Haji Daud, Acting Chairman of the YSHHB Board of Directors:

 

  1. Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam received B$50,000.00, an annual financial contribution from Yayasan since 2001. This organisation´s role is to train special needs people with proper training and guidance to meet the children´s maximum potential capabilities. The donations were received by Dato Paduka Haji Alimin bin Haji Abdul Wahab, Senior Trustee of the Board of Trustees.

The president of Society for the Management of Autism Related issues ­ Training, Education and Resources (SMARTER) Brunei, Malai Haji Abdullah bin Malai Haji Othman received B$50,000.00 on behalf of the society. The intention of the donation is to support financially any events and activities organised by the SMARTER.

Angkatan Sasterawan dan Sasterawani (ASTERAWANI) received B$27,510.00 as a form of financial support for a regional event called "Pertemuan Sasterawan Nusantara XV" which will be held in Bandar Seri Begawan from 11 until 13 December 2009. One of the objectives of this event is to introduce and recognise Muda Omar ´Ali Saifuddien as Royal Brunei Muslim poet and other Malay literature poets, as well as giving opportunities to the participants to gather and exhange ideas in the current affairs of literature, language, culture and writings. The donations were received by Profesor Madya Ampuan Dr. Haji Brahim bin Ampuan Haji Tengah, Head 1 of ASTERAWANI.

Represented by Profesor Madya Ampuan Dr. Haji Brahim bin Ampuan Haji Tengah, a member of Steering Committee of Persatuan Sejarah Brunei (PESEBAR), PESEBAR received B$13,000.00 in sponsorship for a regional seminar to be held in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee celebration of the 1959 Brunei Constitution, in line with the establishment of PESEBAR that is to preserve any historical events in Brunei.

 

The event proceeded with the distribution of qurban meats to the less fortunate and other recipients, presented by Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Mejar Jeneral (B) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Awang Mohammad bin Haji Daud, Acting Chairman of the YSHHB Board of Directors.

 

Represented by Ahmad Rithaudin bin Haji Sabtu, the president of the BKPYSHHB, a total of B$1,500.00 were donated from the YSHHB Employees Charity Fund to the following:

 

  1. DANA Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah For Orphans (DANA) received B$500.00 by Dato Paduka Haji Ali Hashim bin Haji Daud, the Managing Director of YSHHB cum Chief Executive Officer of DANA.

     

  2. The Kampong Manggis/Madang Mosque Construction Trustee Committee received a total of B$1,000.00by Mejar (B) Pengiran Haji Idrus bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, the village head of Manggis 1 & 2 and treasurer of the committee.

 

BKPYSHHB was set up in 2000, responsible in taking care of the welfare of its members mainly the officers, teachers and staffs of Yayasan. The objective is to foster the relationship among the members and to encourage their participance in religious, social and welfare, sporst and economy activities.

 

Also present were the Managing Director of YSHHB, managing directors, special guests, officers and staffs of YSHHB as well as teachers and staffs of the YSHHB School.
