Handover Ceremony of Donations from Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah

To support research and development needs conducted by higher learning institutions in the country to boost the nation´s scientific, technological and societal growth is one of the aims for the establishment of Yayasan in the field of education.

 

In line with this, Yayasan on Friday, 18 Zulkaedah 1430H corresponding to 6 November 2009 contributed 2 donations for a total of B$34,456.00 which took place at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Headquarters in Jalan Kumbang Pasang. The donations were as follow:

 

  1. Sponsorship for Seminars/Workshops to be organized in conjuction with the 19th Teacher´s Day Celebrations

    2.  

    • A total of B$21,265.00 was donated to sponsor a seminar/workshops to be organized by the Ministry of Education in conjunction with the 19th Teacher´s Day Celebrations.

      •  

    • Themed "Teaching Quality and Standard: IT Matters in Classroom in SPN21", the seminar will discuss 12 working papers and is scheduled to take place for 3 days from 9 until 11 November 2009 at the International Convention Centre, Berakas.

      •  

    • The conference, aimed at providing a professional platform for discussions to take place among the teachers and school leaders, also provides the opportunity for the participants to discuss different methods to enhance teaching quality.

      •  

    • The donation was received by Hajah Norjum bte Haji Yussop, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Corporate Services).

     

  2. Sponsorship for International Conference on Culture and Malay Community

    • One of Yayasan´s aims in welfare is enhancing and encouraging the developmental excellence in the socio cultural field by supporting projects and programs in literature and culture. In line with this goal, Yayasan has donated a total of B$13,200.00 in financial assistance to Universiti Brunei Darussalam to cover part of the expenses for organizing the International Conference on Culture and Malay Community.

      •  

    • The main aim of organizing the conference is to identify reputable scholars to deliver working papers and to discuss issues on the Malay culture and society. In addition, the conference is also aimed at highlighting the achievements of Brunei Darussalam as a Research Centre for Malay studies. Its aim is also to discuss the role of culture as a mechanism to sustain the identity of the Malay society in line with technological developments, the economy and other areas.

      •  

    • Present to receive this donation was Dr. Haji Junaidi bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Acting Vice-chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam.

 

Handing over the donations was Yang Mulia Dato Paduka Awang Haji Junaidi bin Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Setia Dato Paduka Haji Hashim, a member of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah’s Board of Directors.

 

Also present, the Managing Director of Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Assistant Managing Directors, officers and staffs of Yayasan.
